aromanek 13 Posted February 25, 2011 I am finishing up day one of my preop diet and I have to say it is MUCH better than I thought it was going to be. As part of my fee, I get a one month's supply of shakes and Vitamins. I am drinking Bariatric Advantage chocolate and it is pretty good. I get to add fruit, today I chose strawberries, and so that makes it even better. I have a shake for Breakfast and lunch and then I get a cup of Soup for dinner and one yogurt that I can gave any time of day. I just decided to make my own soup so I made green chili (I love New Mexico) soup with chicken and Beans. It came out great. I bought a bunch of one cup size containers on a whim last year and they are paying off helping me portion all my dinners. I am happy that with a few bumps in the road behind me on my journey, this diet is helping me to stay positive for the weeks to come.

Rachael 4 Posted February 26, 2011 Good luck! I am going to buy some frozen fruit to add to my smoothies. I also added some sugar free Jello pudding so not too bad. I just can't be with my family while they are eating "real" food. I also get to eat dinner tonight--lean Protein, veggies and 1 cup of fruit. Here's to shrinking our livers and changing our lives for the better!!
nallygirl 4 Posted February 26, 2011 That sounds like a great pre-op diet! Mine starts on Wednesday but I can only have Optifast shakes, sugar free jello! Good luck with everything!!
tntmom 1 Posted February 26, 2011 I just happened to stumble across your post...we have the SAME Dr. and surgery date! I had to start the diet a week ago due to my BMI. I thought the first three days were pretty hard so it's good to hear you are doing well. I think I might try making green chile soup...sounds yummy

Hi Michie, We're having surgery the same day - 9 March 2011. My diet looks much the same as yours, but I'm allowed 2 cups of non-starch vegetables per day and one piece of fruit. Today is day 5 of the diet. Day 2 and 3 were the worst. I struggle with it and think about what I'd like to eat off and on throughout the day.

One of my favorite things about this diet is that I can have 1 cup of yougurt any time of day so I have been eating the yougurt mixed with the cup of Soup I can have for dinner. It makes me feel like I am eating a full meal. I made a homemade roasted Tomato and garlic soup with chicken broth and mixing in the yougurt made it creamy and satisfying. I am going to try a clearbroth clam soup and try the same thing for a chowder effect.
