amberakamom 13 Posted February 24, 2011 I hate my Calcium supplements. I am looking for a different kind, but in the meantime, I was wondering why we need them. Anyone want to buy a giant bottle of Bariatric Advantage wild cherry calcium lozenges? I also have a giant bag of chocolate bariatric advantage Protein, that I will never use. And why does it have to be citrate?
BirdGirlEm 1 Posted February 25, 2011 You can get all the Calcium you need from Tums or Rolaids (generic versions as well). No need for the fancy, expensive, and very nasty tasting supplements. If that is still not palatable, try calcium enhanced foods, like milk, yogurt, cereals, and orange juice. We need the calcium because we are not eating enough to get it in our diets normally. But some people can meet those needs so if you are worried about it you could have your calcium levels and bone density checked and maybe you won't need to supplement. Most women also need Vit D, which helps the calcium be used in the body. Women in general need calcium and Vit D added to their diet to meet nutritional needs. Steph951 1 Posted February 25, 2011 Citrate is easier for your body to absorb, otherwise you'd have to take other Vitamins to help your body absorb it
amberakamom 13 Posted February 25, 2011 ok, so is Calcium with Vit D, just as good as citrate?

TexasNurseMom 5 Posted February 25, 2011 I take the viaxtivw or the caltrate plus d in the chewable chocolate pieces. Tastes like a tootsie roll so I have it for a "snack". Takes about 3 bites to eat each one.
DRB4 0 Posted February 25, 2011 Try Lemon Calcet Creamy Bites. They are really good:) I couldn't find a calcium citrate chewable that I could get down. This brand is like having a little treat. Be warned, these are expensive...that is the only downside for me.
