I was banded 6 weeks ago. Now I am feeling good, great as a matter of fact! Like nothing even happened! I was told I have my first fill 3 months from the day of the surgery... so till then?? I am hungry... still eat the same things I did before, dont get full any quicker. I try to chew my food but other than that nothing is any different than before the surgery. Is this normal... I know this is suppose to be the healing time... but sometimes I feel like omg, am I really ever gonna begin to lose weight... !!

You won't feel much until you start having fills; 3 months seems a bit long to wait for a fill. Maybe ask your surgeon why? Until you reach restriction it's up to you entirely to make the best food choices possible. Yes you can eat what you did before, but should you? Probably not. Willpower is the name of the game here.

I'm in the same boat as you. I feel fine, as though nothing has happened. I was banded 1/31, will get my first fill 3/1, exactly 4 weeks.

3 months till a fill? Usually you get it after 6 weeks.

Don't eat the same things! You need to eat healthy, 1200 calories a day, 60 grams of Protein. Or you won't lose any weight, fill or no fill. All the fills do is control your hunger.

I hope things start after my first fill. I am going on march 5th. Over 3 months after my surgery. It was supposed to be a little sooner, but first I was on vacation then my dr was. I don't think my dr will be happy with how little I've lost since my last appointment. I hope things pick up after my fill

I was banded 2/17 and am full with three 1/2-1 cup meals per day. Maybe it's just the swelling? IDK, but I'm trying to train myself to recognize that I'm feeling good and have enough energy on only this amount of food, so whether I continue to feel full or not, I will be just fine if I continue to eat these smaller portions.

3 months seems a bit long. I had my first fill at 4 weeks and then a fill every 2-4 weeks, depending on whether or not I was still hungry.

I'd call and ask them to schedule you sooner since the fills are what help get rid of the hunger.

I'm surprised you are allowed to eat that much so soon. My post op was only up to .5 cup at 3 weeks and no more than .75 cups at week 4. Then week 5 up to one cup.

Please tell me that I will start losing after my first fill. I am just looking at the weight I've lost since after surgery and it sucks. I have almost no feeling of having a band, besides getting a little full quicker. In the past 4 weeks I have lost 2.5 lbs. That is unacceptable to me. I know it will take time to come off, but come on! Besides a week that I was away (which I know messed me up). I have been going to the gym 4 or 5 days a week doing 30 min cardio and usually at least 30 of weights. I do know that I am losing inches (had to get smaller jeans) but I need weight to move too. Please, I need encouragement!

It's hard to accept, but have patience. This journey is a marathon, not a sprint. You did not gain the weight over night. With the band, it doesn't come off over night, either.

I lost an average of 3/4 of a pound a week when I was losing. I felt it was painfully slow, but it got me there. You will get there, too. Keep your chin up! One of these weeks you'll get on the scale and be down 4 pounds at one swoop when you least expect it. Keep doing what needs to be done, the rest will follow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
