spoiltmom 44 Posted February 24, 2011 I currently have 6.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. My last fill was over a month ago. That said I have days where I can eat everything in sight and I'm hungry all day long. Then I have days where I'm not very hungry and I have a lot of stuck issues. The thing is my doc says if you are able to eat 65 grams of Protein a day and over 900 calories then you need more fill. I'm limiting myself to 1200 a day and some days I have 90 grams of protein. But I'm afraid if I get any more put in my band I won't be able to eat at all. Something got stuck on Sunday and I had to go back to liquids for 3 days b/c I couldn't keep any solids down after that. What do I do?
HeatherinCA 10 Posted February 24, 2011 Start paying attention to your body, are you really hungry? Or is it mental. If you are already having stuck issues I doubt you need more fluid... I think what you are eating sounds about right. What your doctor says doesn't sound right. It'll never physically stop you from eating more than 900 calories. I could stop at 900 calories and not be hungry, but I wouldn't be satisfied. So I eat closer to what you said you are eating. I don't think that is unreasonable. vickyd 24 Posted February 24, 2011 I agree with Heather...that just doesn't sound right. I, for one, don't lose if I am taking in less than 1,000 calories a day and my NUT wants me to eat 80-120 grams of Protein a day to keep my energy levels up and to avoid hair loss...IMHO, less than 65 grams of protein and less than 900 calories a day doesn't seem healthy... That said I have days where I can eat everything in sight and I'm hungry all day long. Then I have days where I'm not very hungry and I have a lot of stuck issues. Sounds like 'life with a band'. The band does tighten and loose on its own...sort of. The nurse who does my fills said it's due to the gastric juices affecting the inside of our banding area which causes the 'stomach' to expand and contract slightly causing the band to be tighter or looser. The days when you're not hungry and have more stuck issues are probably the days when your band is about right on. Just take small bites, chew well and avoid the 'problem' foods. The days when you're hungry all day...you're just going to have to white knuckle it...but knowing that it's temporary. Personally, if I had more hungry days, I'd go for just a teensy fill and drink Protein Shakes on the too tight days...but that's just me. .
