Ok so I need some help. I've had this band for a year now and within the last couple of months I've had a hard time keeping food down. I'm only adjusted 3 1/4 cc's and it's been at that for 10 mo. and up to 2 months ago it has been fine. I seem to be getting a lot of phlem and now I'm finding myself gasping for air in the middle of the night but then it resides after I throw up. Does anyone have this issue? I've tried cutting out high citric juices and foods and even done the no gluten approach. I'm drinking tons of Water and still nothing.

Sounds like acid reflux. Are you eating within 3 hours of sleeping? If so, stop. Your band may be too tight so you may require a small unfill. Talk to your surgeon.

I'd think about a small unfill.

After about 2 years, my band tightened up and I started getting signs that took me a few months to add up. Once I figured it out and had the unfill, every problem was solved and I rarely got stuck any more. My only regret is that it took me months to put all the clues together. The signs I had were: lots of gurgling after eating (to the point of being embarassing)

acid reflux at night

trouble eating solid Proteins

Trouble drinking normally in the morning (I had to sip slowly)

Since I knew that a lot of this was normal band stuff, I didn't think I was too tight. The difference for me, was that none of this happened before.

The best thing about an unfill is that if it doesn't work, you can always go back and have more added.

I agree you need a small unfill. Don't try to gut it out, I've read of being two tight over a period of time leading to slipping.

I had a small unfill when those same symptoms began to happen. (My gurgling was very bad one time when my class was taking an exam. The kids in the first few rows started to laugh. I told them it was from "a surgery" I had had and laughed with them. )

Unfortunately, the unfil did not do the trick and I have slipped. I let it go too long I think before dealing with it properly. See your surgeon ASAP.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
