When after a fill do you feel the most restriction?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have had 2 fills and am scheduled for a third on March 4th. After my second fill I started feeling more restriction after about 2 weeks. Is this common? I still can eat more comfortably than desired but have had a few stuck episodes.

I am cautious about getting my 3rd fill because I will be out of town 8 days following the fill for 7 days total, and don't want to possibly run into trouble in another state with being too tight.

What are your experiences and suggestions?

Thanks! Joan

I never feel anything right away, but about 2 weeks later...like clockwork...my band tightens.

I usually feel uncomfortable for 2 days after a fill. Nothing serious, but just a bit uncomfortable. Go back to softer meals ( eggs, etc. ) if there is a concern. Another trick: drink something hot ( coffee, tea, etc.) about 15 mins. before meal, stay away from chicken, pork, other dry meats. meat loaf is never a problem.

I have 5.5ccs in mine. I feel good... it's not stopping me from eating anything, but my hunger is essentially no existent.

Joan, how often do you get hungry? I can go a good 4 or 5 hours without eating... i can physically eat more, I just restrain from doing so.. I think it'll always be that way.

I get hungry about every 3 hours or so. I am satisfied more easily than prefills. I am concerned about having my band "tighten up" while I am out of town for a week and it being an urgent situation. Do you feel tighter 2 weeks after a fill ratherthan immediately following it?

I think a small fill would be appropriate for me, just not sure if I want to do this 8 days prior to traveling.

I felt weird after i got my fill for like 2 days (like extra full..), but yea it got tighter after a few weeks i noticed. But I haven't had any stuck episodes. But I notice the hunger decreased a lot.

Hmm can you push your appointment off them? Or just be careful on your trip, could give you more motivation to not eat bad things. i know I get into trouble on vacation.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
