greetings all,

i was banded back in november 2009 (a year and 3 months), i lost about 60lbs i need 45lbs to go. i have many questions and concerns and would love to get replies please.

i was and still am constantly vomiting, i stopped losing weight from last august, xrays showed that it has slipped so i had it deflated once and for all.. see the problem i think i am facing is gue to the constant vomiting my body got used to low calories hence a low metabolism, how can i fix this ? what should i eat and what should i not?

i am very devistated and seriously depressed. 'cause if its not the vomitting it would be the heart burn and if not that it would be the insane pain that would stop me from sleeping at night.

one more thing, does lapband slippage cause under the rib on the left side pain ?

thank you so much

waiting for your replies..

Hi

I havent had the problems you mention, so I don't think I can be of help there. I hope you can talk with your doctor and nutrition person. Are you planning to let your body heal and then get another fill at some point in the future?

Someone familiar with what causes heart burn might be helpful to you -- to teach you about which foods to eat that would not contribute to heartburn. I don't know about what causes left side pain under the rib.

I don't really know what to say that might help.

I just wanted to at least respond that I read your post and hoping you find the right combination of medical care that will get you back on track and losing weight again.

Keep asking your questions and voicing your concerns....and never, never, never give up.

Hi noza, sorry to hear about your difficulties.

You say you're still vomiting even after having all the liquid out of your band? And the way you talk about having the liquid out 'once and for all' - have the doctors recommended you have your band removed? It really can't be good for you to have a slipped band sitting low around the top of your stomach, stopping you from eating right (are you eating slider foods at the moment?). I know it's awful to contemplate, but having no band is better for your health than going on with a slipped band.

I think you need the band out. I'm personally concerned that the way I'm using my band may cause it to slip or already has to some extent - I vomit probably once a week when eating, and I have the same pain under the rib you describe, though under my right rib. I'm going in for a fluoroscopy soon to see exactly what's happened, but if I find out it's slipped, I'm going to have to have it out. I've lost weight on the band and have like you hit a plateau with around 3 stone still to lose. It'd be a blow to have to give up on the band, but there are other ways to lose the weight. Keep strong, hope you're managing ok, let us know how you get on.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
