BANDZILLA 0 Posted January 7, 2006 I was banded on 12/9/05 and have felt to me what seemed like a perfect restriction since then and have lost 18 lbs. Well I managed to have a severe vomiting episode yesterday and now I have absolutely zero restriction. I even tested myself this morning by eating a large portion of non-food processor Breakfast followed by 8 oz. of Water right away. It feels like I did before the surgery. I have a bad feeling about what may have happened. I would appreciate any input. Also I need the phone number for Dr. Jessee in Miami. Dave
Alexandra 55 Posted January 7, 2006 Dave, if you've been around here any length of time at all you know that MOST people can eat almost normally after banding but before they've had a fill. Three to four weeks after surgery you will be almost totally healed, and any postop swelling will be gone. So YES, it is NORMAL to be able to eat solid food and feel almost no effect of your band at this point. I don't think anything has happened, even if you had a "severe vomiting episode." You probably had a normal PB/sliming episode becuse you tested your band a little, and it "bit back." As for your incrased capacity, I think you're just surprised to feel this way because no one told you you would. Normal, normal, normal. I hope that's not your doctor you're asking for the phone number of? Presumably you have your own doctor's phone number?

sheshard2hold 0 Posted January 12, 2006 Hello, I was banded Dec.12th 2005, If you felt what you called a perfect restriction and now after severe vomitingnone, then listen to your body! You know with your weight loss how it felt before ,call the doc asap........I hope you already have. I can barely eat 5 ounces, i know we sare only allowed 4 ozs. but I tried to test my limit a few times and you know that HORRIBLE ,CRUSHING feeling we get in our chests when we cheat.......that's the band doing it's job."preventing overeating". I hope to hear back from you and that you have resolved the problem. I recently spent Dec 25 -Jan 2 in the hosp. due to my port having a bad infection and being removed. But my origional restriction is still keeping me in line!! I will be reoperted on in about 3-4 mos.to reconnect the port in another location. GOOD LUCK
