Banded on Dec 29th, 2010

Recommended Posts

Okay....I would like to know from the people who was banded around Dec 29th how much weight you've losted. So its been around 8 weeks since my surgery and I've losted only 17lbs. So that's about 2.12 lbs a week. I just feel like I should of losted more weight. I had my first fill and it doesn't seem to be working. For some reason I feel like I had more restriction w/o the fill so I'm schedule to go back for another fill on March 7th. I guess the good thing is that I'm able to keep off the weight at the time being. I'm walking every other day and on the days I'm not walking I'm working out with my DVD's and Wii (Biggest Loser, Just Dance, Rumba, Fitness Plus, Football Training).

I was banded in May 2010 so I'm not exactly the person you're looking for I just want to say that comparing your weight-loss to others is well..useless to put it bluntly. You'll find that some people have lost more, some less, and some about the same, but if you're like most of us here, you'll only focus on those people who have lost more, you'll wonder why you haven't lost the same amount, and it's a down spiral from there.

Keep in mind that all of our journeys are different. You're not going to lose like another December 2010 bandster.

Also the average weight loss with the band is 1-2lbs a week; what more are you expecting? 2.12lbs a week is a great loss and it's on par with what is expected; if anything you're above the losing curve.

You're losing at a great rate and you should truly be happy. You may see it as "only" 17lbs, but it's 17lbs gone forever, right? I used to use the word "only" a lot. Now I look back and laugh when I want to say I've "only" lost 110lbs+.

As for your fill/restriction level, it's the quantity of the CCs in your band and I can guarantee you'll probably need more fills until you reach the restriction level you're seeking, whatever that may be.

Overall, you're losing perfectly. Don't compare yourself to anyone else here.

Thanks for the reply and I see what you mean. I guess I never really looked at it from that point of view. Thanks again!

2 pounds a week is normal! 1-2lbs... I know I had this impression it was gonna be super fast, but this is the reality! I was banded 12/13, and I've lost about 25 since surgery. Remember you gotta burn 3,500 calories to lose a pound, it's not realistic to expect to burn 10,000-20,000 a week!! (unless you weigh like 500lbs and just walking to the door burns a lot of calories) That is why we lose 1-2 pounds.

The fills are to make you less hungry in between meals. Are you less hungry? How big was your fill?

I was banded on the same day. I feel the same way that you do. I had lost 19 pounds by day 12. Then I gained 5 back (when I moved to the next food group). Now I've lost 3 of those. But that was over a month ago. Since then...NOTHING. I am still losing a ton of inches and the loss is noticable to others. You're doing more excercise than I am but I can relate to the frustration.

I had my fill on Feb 11. I think eventually our bodies will catch up and we just have to hang in there until then.

I was banded on Dec 20 and lost 11 lbs pre-op and 23 lbs since. I feel pretty fantastic and will be thrilled with 1-2 lbs a week consistently. There is no quick fix and it takes a lot of work but I am up for the challenge! Best of luck to my fellow Dec bandsters!!

I had my band on Dec. 17, 2010, I've lost 20 lbs, I'm starting to feel a little frustrated, I thought I would have lost more weight by now, but after seeing the comments at least I know I'm not alone. I'm also starting Curves on Monday, so I'm hoping this will help, my second fill is scheduled for March 28.

I'm glad to see this post. I lost 32 pounds; the bulk of it was lost in January The last 4 weeks or so, it's only been the 1 - 2 pound range per week. I haven't even had a fill yet. Dr. says...so long as I'm losing.... = NO fill and that I'm doing GREAT. I was feeling a little frustrated and was hoping to lose more. So... looking at all of your posts.... I guess I am doing pretty good. :-) Since I don't have a fill, I'm really starting to feel hungry and I'm scared that I'm going to lose "control"!! sad.gif

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
