Hi my name is Jeni and i live in Australia, Melbourne. I started my lap journey in 2009. My surgery was performed on 10th Sept 2010 and I'm happy to say that it went wonderfully.

Dr Ahmad Aly was my surgeon and he was wonderful. He was very matter of fact, answered all my questions and made sure I were always comfortable. Not to forget Shelley & Tracey, Surgery went well and i went home that next day. I was on liquid diet for 6 weeks and that i must say was tough, moved onto pureed foods then slowly went on to normal foods. I was weighed the day of surgery at 101 kilo's and i am now 89 kilo's and doing well. I have had many experiences that may differ to others and i would be very interested in hearing your experience tho. I have found sticking to rules you cant go to wrong. chew chew chew lol lol lol, In the last 2 months or so i have had an up set stomach which appears and then disappears on the third day. What i am lacking is motivation for the exercise "naughty". I am looking forward to chatting and learning from other bandies about there experiences so feel free to chat.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
