The invisible woman 0 Posted February 22, 2011 Hi everyone, I was banded yesterday, and it all went smoothly. The only thing is the gas pain from surgery is really painful. I have been walking today (around the house, and twice down the street to the mailbox) and it still hurts. I thought it would be gone by now! The pain from the incisions sights seem to be just a little uncomfortable. Also, in my pre-op meeting with the doc, he said I could take my butalbital prescription for Migraines if necessary. Just cut open the caplets because they are too big to swallow. Of course I had a Migraine today, took it, and then realized they have caffeine in them. Think I should worry? I have a call into the doctor's office and I am waiting to hear back from them. One more question, on the dressings for my incisions, there are just a couple of little spots of blood you can see through the dressing. Smaller than a dime. Is this normal? Sorry if I'm being a baby! Michelle
forabetterlife 3 Posted February 22, 2011 As for the migrane medication you should be ok as long as its not an NSAID medication then you should NOT take it becuase it can cause ulsers in your pouch. As for the blood it is totally normal I have talked to many others about this, I had dried blood when I took my bandages off and freaked out but the nurse said its normal dont worry. Congrats on being banded welcome to our world.

Sorry if I'm being a baby! Michelle Hi, Michelle! Both a friend of mine and I had that gas pain for several days after surgery. Both of us were told by our Doctors to take gas-x and it did help considerably. No worry about anything that has caffeine in it, caffeine won't hurt anything. Your dressings will be very ugly until they come off. Unless you have a significant amount of blood or serous, don't worry about it.
cccs427 0 Posted February 23, 2011 Hi, the gas pain is normal and its gonna take a while to go away, sometimes when I eat veggies and salads I get the pain too. But everyone is different. Regards to the medicine try not to take it with your pain medicine. Incisions sound like their fine just don't touch till your doctor tells you to clean or bathe. Hope everything goes well. Patti.Ramsey 0 Posted February 24, 2011 Hi Michelle, I had my sugery one week ago today, today was the 1st day since surgery I have not had the Gas pain (Knock on wood, the day isn't over yet). My Doctor suggested Gas X Strips, so that's what I took. To be honest; I'm not sure if it worked, this pain is the worst pain I've ever experienced. Hopefully your gas pain will end soon. I can't speak to the dressings as I didn't have any, my Doctor glued my incisions and I haven't had any issues so far. Patti
paula2468 7 Posted February 27, 2011 The GasX strips helped me so much. I pretty much lived off chicken broth, sugar free popsicles and GasX the first week. Hope things are getting better!
