On day 7 of my pre op diet and I am seriously starving! I want to eat something other than the Soup and powdered eggs and sugar free Jello prescribed to me!!! I have 7 more days of this to go... surgery is on the 28th. How can I last 7 more days of this.. already lost 8 lbs since Monday! Any tips would be great!!!!

Wait, that's ALL you've had? Didn't your surgeon suggest taking Protein shakes too? There are quite a few out there on the market (there's a thread looking for suggestions in this forum), I'd recommend trying some of the ones you see recommended as the entire point of drinking them is that it fills you up without adding a ton of calories; they're typically between 150-200 per shake.

I'm doing Muscle Milk Light as it's one of the better tasting ones I've tried. I hope you get some other suggestions on this thread for a pre-op diet as the above doesn't sound like it's enough to keep you from feeling hungry at all :( .

Get your MUSCLE MILK LIGHT on ebay. Just type in Muscle Milk, and you will see the suppliers pop up, lots of flavors too. You can buy say strawberry, then in a food processor puree some strawberries, and add to your drink. It will help fill the emptiness. Just do it slow ! ! ! Add a Sugar Free Chocolate pudding to mix in a chocolate shake. That will thicken it up.

Check out links for recipes or smoothies. I'm sure there has to be something.

Or start a tread ! Ask what is your favorite smoothie or Protein Shake? I'm sure you will get some responses..

You could ask your doctor if you could have Protein shakes; but do not start them without doctors approval. Did they tell you how much you could have a day? One egg white only has like 15 cal. Could you spread out your "meals"; eat every couple hours? Are you having Soup or plain broth? Again broth only has like 30 cal. could you drink more of it?

I was given 2 weeks worth of MediFast food. That is basically 4 different Soups (which are mostly broths), powdered eggs, blueberry pancake(worst thing I have ever had), strawberry smoothie, hot chocolate, vanilla shake, and chocolate shake, and Protein Bars.

Out of those options I am to chose 5-6 things a day to eat and that is it!:(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
