Hey people, I must admit, I DISLIKE her very much. I know people who have run into her and she isn't a nice person. She will never be honest that she was banded, IMHO.

But putting all that aside, Everyone has a right to privacy. The thing with Star is she wrote a book and is doing interviews about her weight loss, and is giving advice and taking on the role of a WL role model. So, in my opinion, if she is going to talk about it, give advice and be an example, then she should be honest about the journey.IMHO

Today in the supermarket check out, I saw a picture of her on a magazine with the caption "Star Jones How I Lost my Weight", so I am not buying the non disclosure to the right to privacy about her weight loss. It's her ego.

I just find it interesting, that we are supposed to be thin, but not too thin. Fat, but not too fat.

I have only the vaguest idea who this woman is, but if she is touting her weightloss journy, then she needs to be honest.

I have a co-worker who hid her gastric bypass surgery. She didn't even tell her family, she only told me because she needed someone to pick her up at the hospital and go to the store for her. It bugs me when I hear her telling our fellow overweight coworkers that she went on some kind of "milk" diet. I guess I'm just a big mouth, I probably tell more than I should about my antics and I certainly told about the surgery. I don't get being secretive about it but some folks are just more private.

Why do we even care? Why do we care about what any of these celebrities think or do? They are not super human. They have weaknesses and faults just like we do...............OK after feeling compelled to say that :) I think she looks a little better with some fat on too :) What can I say....I'm human too! (I bet it was by-pass)

Okay, I am forced to further explain my earlier post.

I don't care if she owns up to it or not, but if she wants to be in the public eye and talk about a journey and all that then I think she should be honest.

I am a closet bandster too, so I can identify with that, but I am also not writing books and doing interviews saying how it was alot of hard work either.

I have a co-worker who had the lapband a month after I did. She is telling everyone that she is losing weight just by eating 4oz of food at any given meal. Everyone knows I had the surgery because I work in the hospital lab and my name was on the surgery schedule. What she does not know is that everyone knows but won't tell her because it is a HIPPA violation. Some of them were not supposed to even look at the schedule but you know how that goes. I sometimes wish alot of people didn't know but oh well. STar Jones looks bad to me. I don't know if it is that her hair weave is too big or her face is too small. I have a tip for her. Since you have lost all of the weight, lose some of the big hair. I think that she did have some type of procedure, I for one am thinking the duodenal switch( Jesse Jackson jr and his sister Santita the singer had it done and they are good friends with Star).

I think Star doesnt look good not because of the weight loss, but I think her spirit cant hide the fact that she is so in the public eye and cannot really be private. There is no doubt n my mind that she had somekind of surgery and i dont care either. But her spirit isnt free to even be who she used to be as her humor is gone, her joi de vive lost. I hope not continuing into depression. Its no shame to want desperatly to be healthy. I think conflict inside between wanting to be private and healthy causes pain inside. Dont people realize that we can never please everyone so its bettet to be true to self and love the onein the mirror?

Star Jones is going to be on 20/20 tonight talking about her weight loss. Thought some of you might be interesting in what she says.

Star Jones, who used to say she was big and beautiful has changed her tune now that she had gastric bypass surgery. She now can only talk about how bad she felt about herself and her health issues. She doesn't quite come out and admit she had GB but she did. It's very obvious in the way she talks. I can't stand her anyway...annoying is not the only word I would use. She is a hypocrit sho raved about being big and loving it, and has done an about face.

I read an article on Star Jones a few days ago. She admitted to having a "medical intervention" but doesn't want to be the poster child. Also, her new book is out. Either way, I still feel it is a personal choice to break the news..even if she is famous.

I think the reason she doesn't look her best is because she's worried to death someones gonna get the real low down on her surgery. She can't enjoy life for worrying about it, LOL.

I agree with the above comments, when you're in the public eye, especially, 5 days a week, there's going to be talk with a weight loss of that magnitude. Once she announces the real truth about her weight loss the better she will look and feel, all that pressure, LOL.

I don't think that she is a pretty woman to begin with. I also think her personality has changed along with her losing the weight. She appeared more outgoing in her previous "heavy" life. I wonder if she feels guilty about not being open & honest on whatever she did to lose the weight.

I really like Star. She is seen here in Australia also. Go easy on her people, because she has fought her inner demons and would have been made miserable by others for so long, like we all have.Susannah

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
