Watermelon is a fruit pretty high in carbs. I would eat it in lots of moderation. Berries are very low in carbs. I buy a frozen bag of mixed berries- Publix brand. I eat it with some mozz. cheese sticks almost every day, delecious.

Actually, a cup of watermelon is slightly less carbs less than a cup of raspberries or blackberries and almost half the carbs of blueberries.

In any case, a cup of watermelon is about 11 carbs and is doable on a low carb diet *IF* you can control how much you eat (not a trigger food).

I don't watch carbs and have not tried watermelon since being banded that I can remember. With me it's very much a texure thing ...... I'll have to try a bit this summer. It sounds good, but as with anything I try for the first time after being banded I will have to take a bite or 2 and see how it goes. Now this thread is making me miss summer.

I've eaten watermelon and had no troubles. If it is a trigger food for you, then be careful.

Whether or not you should eat it is up to your personal triggers and the food plan your surgeon has you on.

I have been trying to add fruit to my diet. By the time I get my Protein in, I don't usually have room for more.

I had apple (no skin) yesterday and it was pretty good. I haven't tried watermelon yet. I have had cantaloupe without issues. I can't eat oranges any more though.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
