TracyNYC 4 Posted February 19, 2011 Just looking for some moral support and encouragement: I am unfilled and awaiting my revision surgery on March 14. I was unfilled on February 3 and have gained 13 pounds. I know how I did it. EAT EAT EAT...... However, The last week before the unfill I lost 10 pounds in about 6 days due to keeping nothing down. I know that is a very bad, unhealthy loss. shakes and Water were coming back up. I start each day with the best intentions, (LOL) but fall off the wagon in the evenings. It is like Bandster hell. Only I know it will last for quite awhile as it took me over 6 months and 5 fills to have restriction last time. I am worried and have stepped up my physical activity a bit. My friend said I should look at it as only a 3pound gain since the last 10 were a crazy loss. Is that making excuses?
vlp1968 83 Posted February 19, 2011 Sorry you had trouble and will have to go through the process of getting fills again. I think you should focus on eating the right foods, low carb- low fat- high protien. Your portions may be larger than they will be once you have restriction again, but at least you shouldn't gain. With an increase in physical activity you might even loose a little. Good luck!
Mimilou2004 13 Posted February 19, 2011 I don't think it is making excuses, I think your friend is spot on..... I hope it doesn't take you 6 months to regain restriction but it might, and there is nothing you can do to rush it. It is good you have stepped up your exercise. I was revised 11/30 and just this past week had my 2nd fill and am finally having some restriction. Your restriction will come, I promise. Best wishes, Mimi
ElfiePoo 109 Posted February 20, 2011 If you can keep your carbs around 30-45 and from vegies, you can do a higher fat diet (the fat helps control the hunger) safely. I know the current belief is low fat, but I know from personal experience and the experience of other long-time Atkins dieters that you can actually eat a higher fat date *WHEN* you keep your carbs low and, over time, improve all of your lab work. I do Atkins and my diet is about 30% Protein, 60% fat and carbs are around 30-45. I'm now off all my diabetic meds and my latest lab work came back with my LDL/HDL in normal ranges as well. I'm not trying to convince you to do Atkins, just letting you know that a higher fat diet is not necessarily bad and the higher fat helps control the hunger....and thus the overeating. .
