Hey! Just wanted to hear from everyone to see how you're doing. I'm doing okay--I think the hernia repair is definitely a much more tender spot on me right now than anything else. I'm still taking the LorTab. My nephew's 2nd birthday is tomorrow and we're supposed to go over there. I hope I can make it! I'm mentally okay, but physically, I'm certainly not doing any cartwheels!!

Getting better every day, I did have a slight breakdown in will power and ate a saltine. I just had to chew something  Well it went down OK and so far the band isn't upset. I did sorta feel it stay above the band for a bit and then whosh right through. Funny feeling but I guess that's what real mealtimes will be like. I can see how you would get ques from the band when your full and I intend to listen for them. Anyhow doing well and hope that you and the other 02/2011 bandsters are as too.

so far im getting in a little liquid but i am still in alot of pain my band was 2/16 i can feel the liquid go from pouch to tummy thats unique as tom said lol. i do feel like my larger tummy feel hungry i hear the growling and get the whole starving feeling but at times im in alot of pain and dont want to over fill my pouch and vomit. so idk at this point i am moving but slowly since the pain and the loritab doesn't really help it, the past two days ive been crushing my oxycodone and putting it in something to sip it down and at times that doesnt do anything but take the edge of so idk. i dont like the feeling like i have to hold my guts in almost to walk but the good thing is i know this will all pass and it is something i truley want and a tool i really need so its totally worth it to me to go through the pain now to live longer and feel better later :)

Hi Everyone! Good so see everyone is doing well. I am 11 days out and doing pretty good. Overall I have had very little discomfort. Even wonder if my Dr actually put the band in. I'm hungry less and get full faster but I don't really feel any different. I do burp more though...

I have been good on mushies though I've had a few cheats here and there the worst being a cupcake on Valentines day. Otherwise I've had a peice of cheese, a triscut, a bite of steak and a french fry. Not too bad and certainly nothing like I would have done before.

I have a gym in my apt building so tomorrow I plan on going and start to walk on the treadmill. I hope to do 20 minutes. We'll see.

Anyway...keep up the hard wor everyone!

Peace~

Ally

Good job all!! I am almost clear of any pain too.... Just a little tender at the port site but not bad at all... No pain meds for the last 4 days ;).. I'm disappointed in myself for telling my boss the truth about why I was off work for a week... She is an anorexic thing ( maybe a bit of an exaggeration ) but anyway, when I went back to work yesterday she asked how I felt and I told her I'm doing fine... Next thing out of her mouth... "so have you lost any weight?". I wanted to deck the bitch! Pardon my language.. But I thought that was rude... Yes I'm down about 18-20 lbs but is this what I'm going to have to put up with???? Other than that and starting to be hungry again I'm good! Ugghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Why did I have to be honest with her???

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
