Help with Menu

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone:

I was banded in August and am having a hard time controlling my eating. I work out 6 days a week. 3 spins, 3 runs and 3 weight. I feel hungry all the time. Can you all offer some suggestions on menu items and when I should be eating?

I have a very busy schedule. I am up at 7 am take the kids to school, work out for 1.5 hours, go home (clean, laundry, get dinner started etc.), pick the kids up and head to work by 4. I work till 12 am and don't get to bed before 1 am so I am going all day.

I will be having a fill in March but need to get my eating under control. I have lost inches and a few pounds but nothing drastic. I started at 236 and an down to 210. Gained a few during the holidays and now am trying to get back on track.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you so much.

How much water/liquid are you drinking? Are you staying away from caffiene and sodas? How many calories are you taking in daily?

I'm glad you have an appointment with your doctor in March, but perhaps he would be willing to move that appointment up a little? It sounds like you need a fill if you have REAL hunger. If you have head hunger and are finding it hard to resist, try drinking water/Crystal Light/diet Snapple or get up and find something to do with your hands that will take you mind off of it. Knit, crochet, do crosswords, sudoku or scrapbooking. I'm a writer and I work on my book to take my mind off eating.

You are doing the right things, like exercising, but stress makes it harder to lose weight and it doesn't sound like you are getting a lot of sleep, that affects weight loss too. Don't snack between meals or eat while doing something else as you will eat more than you realize. Measure your food and wait 15 minutes after consuming the measured portion before eating more. Sometimes your mind has to "catch up" to your body. Journal your calorie intake. If you can't resist, an between a menu choice might be sugar free popcicles. Make sure you load up on Protein and eat that first ALWAYS during a meal. Stay away from "slippery" foods like Cereal, yoghurt and mashed potatoes.

Keep working hard--you are going to make your goal before you know it!

Gad's you are doing the triple career thing full time mom, housekeeper and a job too. You are squeezing in the exercise and run out of time when it comes to sleep. You must be exhusted. From what you wrote, you are on the go all the time. I don't care what anyone says living on less than 6 hours sleep a day isn't healthy it's worse than sleeping too much. It lowers your immune systems ability to fight off infections it saps away your mental resiliance and good humor leading to depression and with that a search for something to compensate and perhaps slip back into the comforting arms of food.

I am sure that you can't step away from your obligations to family and work so take an hour in the middle of the day for a nap, if the kids are old enough ask them to help a bit more to relieve some of your stress. Talk to your doctor explain your concerns and how anxious it makes you when the progress seems so meager against the effort you believe you are expending. Have a real lovefest with the slow cooker its a life saver for someone as busy as you are. Heres a link to a really neat blog in that vein. You will have to be careful and watch the calories but dinner is in the pot.

Well if if makes you feel any better I have only lost about 32 since August. I consider my self a good patient. I stay between 900-1200 calories a day and exercise 1 hour a day 7 days a week. I get my Water in, have only 1 cup coffee a day and don't snack between meals.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
