Day 2 of liquid pre op diet

Recommended Posts

I'm on day two of my liquid pre op diet and I've already cheated. I had one hard boiled egg and a can of dry tuna fish. I was so hungry for something other than liquids!! Think this will hurt me?

Do I think you have hurt yourself; probably not. How long is your liquid diet? If it's 2 weeks I think you should get a calendar put it on the wall and cross off everyday. The more days you are sucessful the more empowered you will be to stay on the plan. My doctor puts some people on a 500 cal. diet for MONTHS. So if you only need to do 1-2 weeks I think you can do it.

Remember post op. You MUST follow your doctors orders. It will be dangerous to eat solid foods before you stomach is healed.

it probably wont hurt you but the BEST thing you can do is really stick to the pre-op diet and suffer like the rest of us! You will understand why you MUST stick to it after you get banded. I lost 13 lbs on pre-op diet!!! If you can't do the pre-op diet, then you shouldn't get banded. TRUST ME, this part is the easy part, then having the surgery is easy to...its after surgery that is the hard part. FOLLOW THE DIET! sorry, but i have faith you can do it!!!!! I just did it 3 wks ago. with no cheating!

SOME TIPS: (if you can have these - i was allowed)

sugar free strawberry Jello layered with sugar free and fat free cheese cake pudding!

Freeze your favorite fat free yogurt! (i love dannon light and fit - carmel flavor)

Tomato Soup and pea Soup SAVED ME!

Your Protein drinks - blend them with other flavors, add some fat free/low fat vanilla yogurt - it adds thickness and sweetness to them,

EAT EVERY 2-2.5 hrs, IT REALLY HELPS!

Thanks for your reply. I've been doing good and haven't cheated since day two. I can't have the yogurts or Soups. liquids only. Tea, Crystal Light, coffee, broth, sugar free Jello and sugar free popcicles is about all I can have.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
