mattie7632 24 Posted February 17, 2011 I drank a lot of broth so that kept me pretty hydrated
HeatherinCA 10 Posted February 17, 2011 That's normal, don't worry just drink as much as you can don't worry about getting the full amount, just sip every couple of minutes
Tami_819 17 Posted February 17, 2011 I tried to drink as much as i could the first few days. You are all swollen inside so it's probably not unusual that you can't eat/drink a lot. The one thing that help me with all the bloating and gas was to get walking as much as i could to move it around. Once that all settles down, you start feeling better & able to eat/drink some more. changing 2 Posted February 17, 2011 I was banded on the 15th.I have not been able to get 64 ounces in yet.I am sipping all day on a combination of liquids which also include broth.I think that is normal.I am chewing a kids Multivitamin also.
Acadia 20 Posted February 18, 2011 For the first few days you may only be able to get down 24 or so ounces easily if that (my Dr figured I'd get down about 8 oz the first day, around 16 oz the second day, and so forth). You're very swollen and healing. Watch the surgery on YouTube to see what kind of trauma you've just gone through. That will put it into perspective. And you don't need to be eating Jello at this point if you aren't able to tolerate it. You likely won't be able to eat much or drink much for the first few days, I was on liquids for 7 days. It's okay to stay on liquids, just be sure to be drinking Protein shakes to get some calories and Protein. Don't drink only Water, you need calories, protein, and carbs right now to heal. aNEW_me2011 0 Posted February 18, 2011 Thank you all for responding! Im feeling a little better today. My doc told me that it was okay for me to eat Jello. But it has me extreme full after just eating half of the cup. But today is my 3 day post op so im going to try a slim fast and see how that works. Hopefully i will be able to eat creamed Soups soon. But im not rushing it!
