elained 0 Posted February 17, 2011 Hi, I was banded on 2/9/11 and for the last few nights I have woken up during the night with wicked charlie horse cramps in both my calfs. I am also getting muscle spasms in my back during the day. Has anyone had this? I am still on full liquids so I am drinking at least 3 shakes per day and some yogurt or Soup as well. Thanks! zeniada 9 Posted February 17, 2011 YES!!! You should increase your potassium... you can buy them over the counter...good luck.
honk 780 Posted February 17, 2011 I do agree about the potassium. Also, as someone who had a stroke (not band related) since you are so close to surgery I would worry about blood clots. Please call your doctor to be safe!

Please call your doctor to be safe! Yes, Call your Dr. ASAP!. Deep leg Thrombosis is a very real and potentially fatal condition. During surgery they put air splints on your lower legs to help prevent this condition. Would not suggest that is the case, but a call to your Dr. would not hurt. IndioGirl55 32 Posted February 17, 2011 How much Water are you drinking??? I get bad leg cramps if I don't drink enough water - add a banana to your shakes
Melissannde 41 Posted February 17, 2011 I don't recall having leg cramps so soon after surgery. But I have had them after exercise. I usually drink Powerade ZERO (not the full calorie stuff) which has extra potassium in it. Also watch your Water and Calcium intake. A call to your surgeon isn't a bad idea at all since you're so recently post-op. Best of luck to you.
