shnorbel 0 Posted February 16, 2011 I was banded on 2-14-11. After the smallest drink i take, even 1 oz. i get severe pain in my chest to my back. After around 30-40 minutes it gets a bit better. I don't throw up. Last night i drank a cup of hot chicken Soup in around 10 minutes & the pain started. Today I drank, first 1 oz mixed collace & Protein Drink. Then i drank a few sips of Protein Drink & crushed multi Vitamin. The pain lasted severely for around 20 minutes. Im afraid to drink but i know I must. Did anybody have this problem. punk.sauce 0 Posted February 16, 2011 it sounds like it is too tight. was the band filled when they put it in? or was it empty? you may have something stuck or it may have slipped...be careful and contact your surgeon right away. they will help you.

I had the same problem. Extreme pain when I swallowed. Even Water. I can take a sip of Water, feel it go down, then wait a second and then can feel, with pain, the water passing through the band. I was not eating or drinking anything. I called my Dr., and he had me come in. Had me take a sip of water so I can demonstrate the short delay before the pain. He stuck a syringe in my port, and pulled out anything that might be there. My band was not filled, but he said sometimes there is a little air in the band from the manufacturer. He also said it was probably post-op irritation, swelling, etc. He was right. It did subside more each day. I am now 16 days post-op and it does not even feel like there is anything there. When exercising, I can guzzle down a bottle of water as always. I get my first fill 3/1.
HeatherinCA 10 Posted February 17, 2011 Call your doctor! You are probably just swollen from surgery, but if you can't get anything down I'd contact them.
