My Dr's, Staff broke my apt.s. up monthly, so every month I was being weighed "very Important" and seen by a different Dr...

Cardiologist, Psych., Physical Therapist, Internal Medicine for Physical, Plus a couple of visits to my Family Doctor. And weighed at every visit ! then turn in all paperwork.

By that time your Doctor will have put you on a diet to loose some weight. "Just to see if you can, and how well you listen and follow what he tells you, Then he'll schedule surgery.

That's it. Any questions??? Get back..

I met with my surgeron and scheduled my surgery for May 11, 2011. Starting Dec I have had to see the nutritionist once a month until April. They have us in a group and they just go over healthy eating. You also look at how to read nutrition labels. They have discussed changing eating habits now and eating habits after the band. You try to set goals for yourself now. For example, working out 3 times a week, taking a Multivitamin, and chewing your food fully. It really helps seeing the nutritionist and the 6 months fly by. In the beginning it felt like it was going to take forever, but now i'm less than 3 mothns away.

Each time I complete an appointment I get excited because I know it is one step closer. I have done my psych and gastro (EGD) appointments. March 9th I go to see both the cardiologist and pulmonologist. I'll find out then what tests they want me to do. March 10th a nutrition appt. Last week the Dr's office called me and told me to schedule my pre-surgery clearance and the first appt. I could get was March 23. I have my last nutrition appt in April hopefully the very beginning so everything can be submitted to Cigna right away. It's so exciting. Good luck to you as well!

Hi Jenny,

I had my 6 month diet and exercise program done through my sugeon's office. Each month we met as a group (around 8 people) for a nutrition class. The nutritionist would pick a different topic each month (eating out, reading nutrition lables, importance of physical activity) and we would have an opportunity to ask questions. I was very surprised how much I learned and how quickly the time flew by!! Good luck to you in your journey! :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
