Upset Stomach

Hey everyone,

I have been on my pre-op diet for a week now. At first I was constipated but now it is quite the opposite. Has anyone experienced something similar while on their pre-op diet? My stomach seems to be very sensitive right now, and it's like my body is going through a cleansing.

Thanks,

Courtney

Hey Courtney,

I went through the same thing and still am. My stomach is still very sensitive 2 weeks post op. I have to watch everything I eat. Everyones body adjust to this process differently & I realized I can't eat what others do on this bored.

Good luck with surgery!

I went through the exact the same thing. At the beginning it due to the increase amount of Protein in your diet make sure that you drink plenty of Water.

I'm right there with you guys. I'm trying to get in my 60 ounces of Water a day, but it has been hard. My stomach has been queasy too, and like the pp, I haven't had to worry about constipation...sorry TMI, quite the opposite. I called and spoke to a nurse at my doctor's office and she just said to keep drinking water -- and that my body is getting used to a new system. I'd just like for the stomach gurgling to stop.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
