I've fallen off the Lapband wagon

Hi Everyone,

My name is Heather and it's been a while since I've posted here. But I knew I had to come back and stay here because I've fallen off my Lapband wagon in regards to food and when I was doing my best this was one of the places I came often to get ideas. I'm not trying to make excuses from myself but since the excitement of the Lapband had worn off and my life as a housewife has gotten more busy I haven't been watching everything that goes into my mouth like I was. So I know I have to stand up, dust myself off ,and start fresh ASAP because I certainly don't want to gain my weight back. I've already gained a little of it back (15 pounds) and I've worked too hard over the last few years to lose the weight I've lost. so I don't want to sit back and let it come right back on. I would love to hear any advice I can get from anyone who has gone through this and get some tips of what worked for you.

Thanks ahead of time :)

Heather

I don't have any advice since I'm way too new at this (only banded since January) but I just wanted to offer encouragement and say good for you! for coming back before things get out of control. I wish you all the best on your journey to refocus.

It sounds to me like you've started the best way--by admitting that you fell off. Maybe try to remember what you did before you fell off would help you. I have to log all the food I eat or I overeat. Try to fit in exercise. I don't know how old your kids are but I try to "dance" with my 3 year old. He seems to enjoy that. When the weather is nice, I take him for a bike ride (my favorite activity). I keep the house cleared of all weaknesses for me (ie chocolate). I love dried fruit but because of their sugar content, I try to limit how often I get them. If you haven't seen your doctor in a while, make an appointment. You may need an adjustment. And he may be able to give you further advice. You already took the hardest step. Welcome back and good luck.

good for you! The hardest step is the one to get back on track - I am struggling with that as I got lax over the holidays and ate too many sweets and gained some weight and now I am frustrated and angry with myself...but all we can do is look forward and change our habits to get back on track. (sometimes MUCH easier said than done!) I am finding the more time I spend on here the more motivated I am - also if you have a local support group those are wonderful too! I have trouble making it to the one here in town as they are sat mornings and my kids have sports, but the ones I have been to were very helpful and motivating.

I am stuck as I cannot get another fill until I have $150 to spare to pay for it up front, which is the pits....so I kinda feel like I am in la la land waiting...and trying not to gain any more weight in the meantime! I feel like I had it "easy" the first year and a half as the weight pretty much fell off without too much effort on my part - and now it is time for the hard part, working at it!

Good luck and welcome back!!!

Kim

Heather, I recently fell off the wagon as well.

For me when this happens I do a few things. If I need a fill I get one ( got one last week :) ) I also try to exercise more and reduce my carbs.

If I have trouble getting back into healthy eating I do the 5 day pouch test. It is easy for me to do the 5 day pouch test right after a fill because you should be doing a few days of liquids anyways.

This website is certainly a great place :) Happy weight loss

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.

I'm so sorry. I lost my pup (Mr. Bitters - a chocolate Pomeranian) 2 years ago and it still makes me tear up. He was my everything - my constant companion. I understand. Do the best you can to get back on track.
