Rainydayz 3 Posted February 14, 2011 Please I hope no one jumps down my throat because I did search before posting this but could not find any answers in skimming about 6 pages. My question is if the surgery is covered by insurance (in my case Aetna at 90% after deductible) how do they cover fills? Is it treated like a regular office visit with copay or do I have to pay them out of pocket? I will be asking the surgeon's office but hoped someone had some info before then. I realize that all ins. may be different but if I could just get an idea I would feel a lot better. Thanks!
TKW 501 Posted February 14, 2011 well, policies vary but I have not paid a dime for a fill. 100% covered, no co-pay. I have Medica. 80/
MaggieB 6 Posted February 14, 2011 I have Aetna (80/20 plan). I pay out of pocket until my deductible is met ($350 max for me or $700 max for family). Once the deductible is met the fill is covered with the copay.

I hope no one jumps down your throat either because ALL QUESTIONS regarding 'lap band' are good and valid in my opinion. I have Empire Bluecross Blueshield medical insurance and although I have not verified if the fills are covered, my lap band surgeon told me that most insurances don't cover the fills. So I'd probably have to pay $ whenever I am due for one.
HeatherinCA 10 Posted February 15, 2011 I have Anthem Blue Cross ppo, and I pay $30 copay for my fills. It should be just whatever your copay is
Rainydayz 3 Posted February 15, 2011 Thanks for the replies! I see it can be different depending on ins. but I'm really hoping that mine will cover fills just like a dr. office visit. Even for specialists we only pay a $20 copay so I'm really hoping. I will ask when I go for my nut. appt. I'm glad that my surgeon has a program affiliated with a hospital and all services (nutrionist, psych and the surgeon's office) are all in the hospital building and they know what insurance needs to make them happy. I'm getting really excited!

I'm getting really excited! Your surgeon's affiliated program sounds exactly like the combo my surgeon has going on over at his facility. I do hope everything works out for you!
