denalichic 0 Posted February 13, 2011 Hi! I've been banded for two months. I've lost 33 pounds, and am thrilled with my results so far. However, the last two weeks I have been stuck in a rut. My weight loss has stalled and so has my enthusiasm. I just need a little encouragement that I can still do this and that I will hopefully get some restriction, even if it takes a few more fills... Thanks!

Thanks! I understand! I hit plateaus. It makes me crazy. IT IS SO FRUSTRATING. But we will get past it. I don't get depressed because I figure during the plateau periods, it gives my skin time to adjust. I feel saggy enough already. I would rather lose a pound a week - or plateau for a while - than go through the cost and pain of cosmetic surgery. You will get there- you will. You are in charge! festivus 1 Posted February 13, 2011 33 pounds in 2 months works out to about 4 pounds a week. That's HUGE and AWESOME!!!!! Your body is probably adjusting to catch up with itself. As you lose weight, you need to intake less calories to maintain that new weight. So 33 pounds ago, you may have needed (let's say) 2000 calories to maintain your weight, now maybe you need 1800. I'm not sure if you are tracking what you are eating or your caloric intake, but take a look and try to get your 60-80 grams of Protein in. I find that the tracking has been a huge helper in my being able to maintain my intake at between 900-1100 calories a day. It also helps me make better food choices as I can see how many grams of Protein I have and maybe a piece of cheese is better to snack on than a cucumber, just to get that extra protein. You are doing so well!!! you should be proud of yourself. As time goes on, and you have more fills, you will have more restriction. It took me 4 or 5 fills before I reached the sweet spot. Good luck to you. Keep up the good work!
nomorejellybelly 77 Posted February 14, 2011 You're doing great, so hang in there. I wish mine was coming off a little faster, but I know it's healthier to lost about 1 lb a week (that's my average). I have lost about 47 lbs since my pre-op diet in August. That's good for 5 months, so I try not to worry about things too much and I keep on exercising. Dave_NW 92 Posted February 14, 2011 Hang in there. Things will change. You've come a fair way in a very short time, and you deserve to give yourself a chance to adjust. After my surgery, once things adjusted to their new "normal," (surgery Fluid weight went away, I got off liquid diet, and such), my weight loss slowed, then plateaued. I didn't gain, but I couldn't seem to lose any, either. I kept up the daily routine, tried to balance calories in vs. calories out, and I played with the nutrition a bit. I discovered that if I boosted the nutrition while maintaining everything else, the weight shifted a bit, then started downward again. Granted, it was at a slower pace than it was initially, but it still continued downwards. From what I've read here and elsewhere, this is normal. The stalls are your body adjusting to the way it responds to what you're feeding it. I've since figured out how my metabolism works, (sort of), and I'm trying very hard to balance calories in vs. calories out, while increasing my daily exercise. The LBT threads about calculating caloric intake and how much it takes to lose weight were very helpful. I'm happy to report the scale for me in moving downwards again. Good luck with this. And above all, keep at it - it's worth it! Dave
