carolann0117 5 Posted February 12, 2011 Spoke with my Dr.'s office today to confirm my apt for tomorrow. I was banded on 12/27. They advised me that I have to wait 90 days from the date of my surgery to get my first fill for the insurance to cover the cost. WOW... wasn't really expecting that! I'm only 45 days out.... and will have to go another 45 before I can consider the fill. Anyone have this situation? I'm already starting to feel hungry... so I'm going to have to be VERY careful for a month and a half. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ~ I'm a bit scared I'll fail. honk 780 Posted February 12, 2011 I would call the insurance myself. After all you're paying them. I have never heard an insurance saying you have to wait 3 months. Unless you changed employers and you are'nt covered for the first 3 months of employment.
vlp1968 83 Posted February 12, 2011 Yes, I would check with your insurance company- seems a long time to wait. If you do have to wait I would suggest you focus on eating the right foods (high protien, low carb, low fat). Your portions may be larger than they will be once you have restriction but hopefully you can keep hunger at bay and at least not gain any weight. Good luck! I agree with the advice to call your insurance company yourself, but if they confirm that there is a 90 day wait, I would do whatever I had to to get the fill now. Why even have the band if you can't have it filled? By 90 days I had good restriction with only two fills. It would be torture to wait 90 days. I'm cash pay though.
