Ok so I had my fill at the surgeons office on Wednesday... He put 1cc in my band bringing the total back up to 5cc... Last time I had 5cc I swelled my band shut a week after due to vomiting...Anyway I take pills at night. Requip for restless leg, Ambien for sleep, and zoloft for depression/anxiety. On the night of my fill I took those pills at once just like I had done the weeks before. Never had a problem...that night I got severe burning right above my band into my esophagus. So last night I took each pill 15-20 minutes apart... same thing happened. So tonight I split the pill and took each half 30 minutes apart with plenty to drink. I still have the burning feeling but not as bad.. I did not take any of my other pills yet tonight...

The zoloft is a un-coated 100mg pill.. Really isnt any bigger then the capsule of Nexium I take in the A.M..... I assume that it is the zoloft since I have narrowed it down. Anyone else have this problem. THis is not a side effect of the med according to the websites...

I am not sure if my band it to tight since I am fine taking the other meds or maybe I just can not take the zoloft....

thoughts?

I thought about putting it in some applesauce... It just hurts- the burning... unlike any acid reflux I have ever had... So I am scared..LOL... But its worth a try- this pill keeps me sane.. I would hate to loose it if it works..

Zoloft was my only. One getting stuck. I cut them in half now and its fine. They sure are nasty when crushed!

Just was banded 01/31/11 and they told me I have to crush my Zoloft to take it. It is so gross even though I mix it with Boost. I don't dare not take it the withdrawl is the pits. Also did anyone else have troble with their surgery? I am feeling like the Lone Ranger.

Most of my pills are small, but my capsules are too big and I have to open them and swallow the stuff inside. They suggested applesauce, but the one just made the apple so bitter, it was horrible. I found it easier just to pour them on my tongue and take a swig of Water to get them down. I am not suppose to take any pill larger than an M&M.

That is strange my zoloft is the size of my ambien both of which are REALLY tiny. Are you on an extended release? Not sure if there is one but if you are that capsule isn't meant to be broken you may need to see your PCP and get changed over or modified in some way. Whatever you do don't stop cold turkey.

Try taking your Zoloft in the morning with some coffee or hot tea. I take 100 mg too and I have no trouble. Hot liquids are suppose to relax your band. If you feel you have to take it at night still do the samething just use Decaf instead.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
