nevermind

Although reading these boards have helped there has been some post that have caused me to second guess. However, I received a phone call from a good friend who was banded and happened to have the same doctor. The hardest thing for me to except is that I'm 100lbs over weight and have been for a long time. thanks

I definitely have been there. I have gone back and forth over it but for me, I had to weigh my options. Can I quit making bad decisions on my own? No. Is this a cure? No. Nothing will be easy, but for me getting the Band will help me to help myself. Your decision should be based on personal feelings and what your expectations are. Good luck either way!!

BRUINFAN:

Please think about this carefully. Weigh the positive and the negative. I can honestly tell you from personal experience that getting BANDED was the best thing i have EVER done in my life. I struggled with weight loss all my life. and this band came as a miracle to me. The band ( if well taken care of ) can not only help you lose weight but help you keep it off as well. I am glad that you think you can do it on your own, as im sure if you put your mind to it you will. But getting the band does not mean you didnt do it on your own. You can become a weight loss champion by putting that motivation to do it on your own together with the lap band.

Best of luck to you

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
