Other weight loss surgeries reroute your insides or remove part of them, as far as i am concerned this is irreparable damage. My sister had gastric bypass, and yes she has lost a lot of weight but she has also taken on a whole new lot of health issues - anaemia being the main problem.

I have lost 25kg and feel great. I may have a leak in my band, and if i have, it is an inconvenience not a health issue. If i need the band replaced i will get it done.

I am learning to love my band. I just need one for my brain as well!!

Not only would I, but I did. Had stubborn small slip that wouldn't repair, so almost 3 years to the week I had revision surgery and got the larger band to replace my old band. I started at 324, went as low as 174, but gained up to 208 when my band was slipped. Now I'm hovering around 190 and hoping to get back to 180 by the summer.

Taking off 125 - 150 pounds made all the difference in the world to me, both physically and mentally.

Best wishes to you.

Sue

I might reconsider actually. 8 cc's filled, 5 months post op and really no restriction. I am having to "diet" same as preband and am not even at 40 pounds lost yet. Not a whole lot has changed really. I keep plugging away thinking I know it's in there and some day this might get a little easier.

Yes definitely... am still in and out of "bandster hell" as I only had my second fill this past week but I have already changed so much of my eating habits with the help of the band! I can't wait to see what it can do when I get to good restriction!

My mother had RNY in the early 80's when it was fairly new, and she too lost a lot of weight. But, the trade off was some lifelong health issues and Vitamin deficiencies. Since my journey started she has said if the lapband was available back then she would have chosen that over bypass.

In a blink of an eye! Which WLS to have is a personal choice as each has it's own benefits and cons, however for me the lapband was my choice and I am glad that I did.

Yes, I would. I've had no complications at all. If I'd had complicatons, my answer might be different. VSG was not really around when I was banded, so that wasn't an option. I don't know how I'd have felt if it had been.

I have been banded for 13 months now and am very grateful that I am. My life is changed in many ways, all positive. I am not to goal yet, but I'll get there. This was an option that allows me control and a normal body, inside and out.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
