sunshinenh 0 Posted January 6, 2006 Went for my 1st fill today. My Dr. asked me a few questions and then let me know that he wasn't going to do the fill. I have lost six pounds this month and I am not hungry at all. He considers this a huge victory and will see me in 2 wks. I was devistated and actually cried a little (esp. after driving 2 hours in a snow and ice storm to get there). Then this evening I went out with my family and was amazed at how little I actually am eating and still feeling satisfied. First time eating out without feeling self conscious about my eating. I actually had just a few bites over the evening and brought over 3/4 of the meal home. Guess I can give this fill thing a few more weeks. Really want to lose weight faster, but am quite happy to just not be hungry for now. Anyway, thanks for listening.
Jachut 487 Posted January 6, 2006 Im exactly the same. I'm 4 weeks out of surgery though, so I guess anything could happen in the next 2 weeks till I'm due for my first fill but I've already decided if I'm feeling like this at that stage, I'm not getting a fill. I feel like I have cut my portion sizes by at least 1/2 maybe even 2/3, I'm satisfied with a small amount of food, I'm not hungry in between meals and I'm losing at least 2lb a week. I can eat enough and enough variety of foods to be eating what I consider a super healthy diet, I feel fantastic and I look healthy too. Why on earth would I want to mess with that? Only get your fill when and if it is necessary, there is no health advantage in being filled more than you need to be. The more you can eat and still lose weight the healthier you will be. NJChick 3 Posted January 6, 2006 Moonie the same exact thing happened to me today. Went for my first fill. Thought I had gained from the holidays b/c I ate so much chocolate hershey's stock went up. I got on the scale, lost 6 lbs!!!! (almost fell over) and doc said NOPE! no fill. I told him that I AM VERY HUNGRY!!! but he refused. He said maybe next time. Mixed emotions for sure. sunshinenh 0 Posted January 6, 2006 NJ - I feel your termoil!!!!! It is hard to learn this slow (yet hopefully) steady way of losing isn't it. Congrats on your loss!!!
JANSKI 0 Posted January 6, 2006 That's really good progress. I was banded in July and I'm losing about 1-2 every 6 weeks. You didn't gain it overnight and you want to tighten it all up as your losing it. It's not GB weight loss. Dr. Boutt tells me it is 1-2 a week but sometimes that not happening and I'm working out 4 days a week. Running my own race;-) Banded July 11th, 2005 surgery 250 now
mousecrazy 2 Posted January 7, 2006 To all of you who thought you were getting a fill and didn't: look at it as another learning experience. You will be thankful for it later. It IS hard to learn this new way of eating and living life. But you will; it takes time. After some time has passed, you'll learn to trust your new tool; and know if you are slow, it's okay. Probably you'll find that you are slow sometimes and fast others, and maybe you'll even learn to love it when you hear your stomach growl! Hugs to all of you!
