Any suggestions on good clear protein drinks?

Recommended Posts

There is Pure, which is flavorless if mixed correctly in Crystal Light or broths. You can order it online. Some of the Isopure is yucky, but I was able to drink the Alpine Punch and the Pineapple/Orange one. Not too bad. Some of the Nectars are kinda clear. My doc was OK with me drinking those.

I think Isopure is the only option.. are you sure you can't have regular ones? I had Protein shakes with my Clear Liquids, not only isopure.

But yes, put some SF Kool Aid or Crystal lite in it, makes it taste better

I used AMP Wheybolic Extreme 60 from GNC- chocolate is great, vanilla- had to force it. :) I tried the Isopure drinks and couldn't do them. This one gives you 60 grams of Protein, 280 calories in just 12 oz. I spaced mine out throughout the day and had no problems. It helped keep me full. Good Luck!

Is that a "clear liquid" or a shake? I need clear for the first few days.

I use Jillian whey Choc. Protein, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup 1% milk, 1 big scoop smooth Peanut Butter, ice and Water. i blend mine and it makes one of the best Protein Shakes ever. For you, you will need to keep adding water so it is at the consistency to get down easy. I am out 3 1/2 years. I hated Isopure. No matter how I tried to conjour it it still sucks.

My surgery was yesterday. I am on clear liquid Protein drinks only. I can't have any of that stuff that you add. Protein Shakes are a few days away. When I can it does sound good. Thanks.

Unfortunately I never found one I could tolerate, so during my 5 days on clear liquids I got very little Protein. Oh well

Me too. The Isopure was just awful. It had the worst aftertaste I'd ever experienced. So I tried the Biggest Loser protein Water powder and the same problem. I was okay with the Special K protein water powder, but there's only 5g in one packet. Even with that, I could only drink the iced tea flavor. The strawberry kiwi was nasty and also had an aftertaste.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
