Don't get frustrated, just start over the next day. It happens. As far as exercise, just move, whatever you can do will help in the long run. Walking, doing errands, or something low impact like an exercise bike.

ThisMumRocks,

Hi. I also have a knee problem. I highly recommend lap swimming. I use a Water proof mp3 player that I bought on Amazon. Makes a world of difference. In the sixteen months prior to the Lap Band Seminar I lost 30 pounds. From 1/10 to today (sugery 8/13/10) I have lost 86 pounds.

This weather in NE is killing my knee. Between the bitter cold and doing 3 hours a snow removal mulitple times a week; I am not a happy camper.

Stop weighing everyday! I personally have a huge struggle with that! It was the brain trickery that the scale played on you that sent you into your frustrated fit....I know this from personal experience. I would do awesome...do all the right things...and then the scale didn't say so....so I would get into my "wah phase" as I call it and blow all the good work and great choices I had made.

8 lbs is a lot! You have done great...just need to start seeing success as things other than what the scale says...it plays dirty rotten tricks with your brain. Your body is adapting to your changes and it is helpful even if the scale doesnt move your health is improving and that is excellent! Everyone has varables with their weight (including the thin people that seemingly never worry about their weight) you are no different. Pick a day and weigh no more than weekly. It will help. Then you can focus on your success and not what the silly number says.

She's right about the scale. It doesn't mean you're not losing just because the scale hasn't "moved" in a few days. It will. You could be losing inches also and not realizing it. If you're being good most of the time chances are it's making a difference :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
