Protein bar of choice

Recommended Posts

Good Morning!

Great replies from everyone! Thought I might add my 2 cents.

I was banded september of 09 and made it a point to take this weight off SLOOOOOWLY. Im doing it, im under 200 and started at 246. I want it all to be off 3 years from my band date. Ok, I know, im weard, lol. At this rate it will be! :P

I dont do the Protein drinks, they tend to go right through me and im hungry a short time later. I do have a Protein Bar once a day. Usualy in between meals. I eat 5 very small meals a day. I found one that was decent in calories and high in Protein and low in sugar. I t kinda takes me back a bit. Im going to age myself here. When I was around 5 or 6 my Mom used to eat figurine bars. Anyone remember them???? :o Well when I bit into this bar it went alllll the way back to 5 or 6 years old and sneaking into the cupboard to steal moms SPECIAL food! The name of the bar is Power Crunch protein bar. it has 200 calories, 13 grams of protein, 5 grams of sugar and 1 gram of Fiber. I only eat the choco Peanut Butter ones and they go down pretty good. I can only eat half at a time, so I stretch it out over an hour or more. I also work construction so this is perfect for me when we are on the road working. Its a wafer type bar and I LOVE it.

I do eat alot of protein and good veges at my regular meals, eggs in the morning, I can get 1 down, and rolled turkey or ham in the afternoon with some swiss inside, dinner will usualy be anything meat,,and some broccoli, cabbage or cauliflower, etc.

If Protein Bars arent you thing you could try some greek yogurt too, 14 grams of protein! Or some Nuts,,mmmmm one of my favorites.

OH ,PS I have a 9cc realize band and it has 8.25cc's in it.

Have a great day everyone!

Becca :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
