Hi my name is Karen and i live in northeast Alabama. i started my lap journey in November and finally got all the testing and approvals done after what seemed like an eternity. My surgery was scheduled for 7 Feb and i'm happy to say that i went wonderfully. Dr. K. Todd Foreman was my surgeon and he was wonderful. He was very matter of fact, answered all mine and my husbands questions and made sure we were always comfortable. Surgery went great and i went home that afternoon. I'm doing fine keeping all my Clear Liquids down but have absolutely zero energey. I'm supposed to stay on clear liquids until Feb 14th but i don't think i can take another cup of broth or i'll puke. I have been hungry and this is the biggest challange for me. i guess i'll keep eating the popsicles and Jello until Monday when i can actually have some creamed Soup woohoo. Can't wait. i loved getting on the scale this morning though. Dr. Foreman said i would lose between 15 - 20 pounds the first two weeks and i'm already down 7 pounds. That sure makes it worth it to me. Does anyone have any other suggestions for my clear liquid diet - this just is not fun ha ha.

HI. I just joined today. Not banded yet, will be 2/23. They told us in the nutrition class that you could jazz up the broth by buying ramen noodles, making it and then strain out the noodles and don't eat those. Haven't tried it, but it sounds lots better than just plain consomme.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
