Morning Schedule - Liquids, Vitamins, Exercise, wait to drink, Coffee, oh my!!!

Recommended Posts

I am a few weeks post op and doing fairly well, but trying to gear up for the additional changes I'll have to make after my first fill. Here's my conundrum... my doctor and nutritionist have me to eat within one hour of getting up. They have also said no liquids 15 minutes before and 45 minutes after eating. I take a liquid Vitamin mixture with Fiber added when I get up in the morning. I also drink a cup of Decaf coffee. I also plan to start exercising regularly and find that I do better if I do this first thing in the morning. BUT I know I can't exercise on an empty stomach, better to eat something first. BUT how do I get in a meal with the appropriate time to not drink, in addition to my Vitamins and coffee? Even though it's now decaf, that cup of coffee is sacred to me! My head is spinning. Has anyone come up with a good schedule to deal with all this?

Thanks!

Cat

Could you eat first, exercise then enjoy your coffee as a reward for working out? I hate to be on the go when I have my coffee. I like to sit and have the cup warm my hands - it makes my morning!

This is what I have found to work for me. I drink an EAS advantage Protein Drink first thing in the morning. Then I grab a bottle of Water and do my workout. After the workout I sit and relax with my cup of coffee. Shower and then eat a light snack if I need it. My band seems tight first thing in the morning so food gets stuck. The coffee seems to relax it a lil bit. I mix Miralax in with the coffee everyday. You will find that Miralax works wonders and you won't need the fiber! I was prescribed a daily dose of it long before my surgery. The Walmart brand is what I use. Good Luck!

I'm not sure what the eat with in an hour is about. Also I am near restriction and I have my premeal drink less than 15 minutes before I eat. Water after all is going to go right threw the band. Admittedly I work from home and dont' work out in the morning so my schdule is not as set as yours. I get up have my chewable vitamins and fiber, have my coffee, and couple minutes later have Breakfast (greek yoghurt).

If I were in your shoes...I would probably do this...

Get up, take viatamins, eat breakfast, workout...then drink coffe to relax after then shower and get ready for the day. your Vitamins dont really count as drinking a liquid even if they are liquid vitamins.

I personally like to work out on an empty stomach...don't know why but I am gonna try mornings sometimes too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
