3rd fill...

Recommended Posts

So I'm going to go have my 3rd fill on Friday... a little nervous because after my 2nd fill I was way to tight and am scared of getting over filled again today.

Even though my Doc does the fills with Fluro and he can see the liquid pass through the band I still am nervous but KNOW I need a fill because I get hungry after 2 hours and I mean stomach rumbling hungry and I can eat way more the 3-4oz of Protein and 1/2 cup of veggies and 1/4 starch per meal.

So here's hoping all goes well after friday and I get back to losing weight!

I know he is gonna be unhappy with my weight loss so far but it's hard even with the band to lose weight it's just a tool not a cure all..... keep telling yourself that Zen keep telling yourself that!

So when you had your second fill, did it always feel too tight or did that go away? My first fil is Friday. My appetite has picked up and it's making me nervous :( I really hope the fill helps out quickly.

For me it takes a good 1-2 weeks to "feel" the fill so after the 2nd week when I was getting stuck and vomiting after every meal I knew I was too full. And that's why I got a unfill about 4 weeks later I should have gotten it done sooner but I go to Mexico to get my fills and they are only there one week out of the month.

I'm feeling the same way -- I'm scheduled for my fourth fill next week and know that it's time. I get the same grumbly tummy and feel like I can eat SO much more than people on these forums! I'm hoping I'll get a fill as well and that will help. I'll hope for you that you don't experience the same overfill. That has to be a terrible feeling. Don't worry too much about the weight loss -- 26 pounds lost is still 26 pounds lost! I look at it like this -- when was the last time I can say in six months that I've actually lost this much weight and not gained? Good luck with your trip to see your surgeon. Keep up all posted -- I always look at how you're doing!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
