Flu... not sure what to do

i'm almost 3 years post op and this is the first time i've had the flu since being banded so bear with me...

i started feeling sick this past thursday but i thought it was only a cold. by sunday my throat was sore and the nasal discharge was absolutely horrible! today is tuesday and i'm not really feeling any better.

the thing is, i haven't been eating or drinking like i should be. i can get past the not eating but i know i should be drinking but i just can't. just my nose dripping makes me gag all day long that i'm afraid to really drink anything.

and i've gained 3 pounds since thursday. how is that even possible?

unfortunately, my doctor is 4 hours away so going for an unfill isn't possible. shoot, even staying home from work isn't possible.

any helpful suggestions?

I am just getting over a nasty virus myself. I have basically been living off sugar free hot chocolate for a week. If the post-nasal drip is killing your appetite you may want to try some over the counter meds that treat congestion. Your primary care doctor should be able to make a recommendation. I have no appetite when I am sick like that so I totally sympathize. If you find that you have gone a few days without enough fluids, your are tired and weak, and dizzy then you may need to see the doc about IV fluids to rehydrate. This can happen even without the band. Good luck.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
