Got my surgery date!

Recommended Posts

I thought that I posted this the other day but can't find it, so I am not sure what happened. I got my surgery date for Feb. 22nd and started my 2 week LRD, liquid only, today. I am very excited to finally be at the point in the process. I can't believe that this is actually here already!

I have definitely noticed that my behavior takes me to the kitchen many times through out the day to nibble. I have kept myself very busy and have 4 very clean bedrooms due to it! :) I know that I will get through this and what doesn't kill me will make me stronger. With that said I want substance! lol Good golly it is only day one and I just want to chew something. :) I think s/f Jello and s/f Popsicles are going to be my life saver over the next 2 weeks. A friend who had the same doctor as I, said that in her nutrition class they told her she could have a slice of low sodium turkey at lunch. But my class isn't for 1 week and I don't want to do something that I was not told by them to do. I did call them about tea/coffee because it isn't on the list and she did allow me Decaf herbal tea. So here is to day one! Let's hope day 2-14 go smoothly too! lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
