Two weeks post op

Recommended Posts

Well I'm about 2 weeks post op. I've had my staples removed and boy was that a relief.

What I find strange is that from day one, I have felt "satisfaction" at the end of a 1/2-1 cup meal. I am still on "mushies" and am very careful with what I eat. I make sure to get my 60-70 grams of Protein. I take my Vitamins daily including a B-12 sublingual. I am very bad at remembering my Calcium, but tend to eat alot of calcium items (cottage cheese, cheese, 1%milk etc) so I think I'm not doing too much damage there. (could be wrong)

So my question, my worry, is will this go away? I'm not doing "bandster hell" and worried that with my ease so far this is going to come crashing down on me. In the hospital the doc said I was "very snug" and I can still feel things going through the band (like my pills I have to swallow etc). Could I still be swollen at this point? I have no more pain anywhere, not even with a sneeze or cough.

So far I LOVE my band. I don't want that love to go away. :)

The reason doctors wait 6 weeks before your first fill is because it takes about that long for all the swelling to go down. I felt a difference in my appetite about 5 wks out or so. I am sure everyone is different my doctor said he had one patient who didn't need his first fill for 5 months. Good luck!

You may just be one of the lucky ones who don't go through bandster hell. I am happy to say that I am in that category...I was banded December 2nd and, like you, felt some restriction from the beginning. So far, I am losing consistently and haven't had any fills - when I asked my surgeon about it he just said that some people do feel restriction from the start and he finds that those people can lose the weight without a lot of fills. That said, I do track all of my food intake to make sure I am getting enough calories and Protein - initially I wasn't eating enough because I just didn't feel hungry and this caused my weight loss to stall for a couple of weeks. Once I started making sure I was eating around 1,000 calories a day I started losing again.

Good luck!!:D

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
