nanahanna 1 Posted January 5, 2006 That was a very interesting article! Thank you for sharing! I am weighing all my options but am leaning toward the banding. My very good friend had RNY last year and her weight loss has slowed because she has learned how to eat...constantly...I am afraid for her ..that she will regain the weight (about 80 lbs) and her surgery will have been for nothing. Goes to show you that the "head hunger" must be dealt with!
maudeispam 2 Posted January 5, 2006 Thanks for sharing. I printed a couple copies for relatives that are interested in weight loss surgery, but are still deciding on what form. Maybe my encouraging and this article will help make them LBTers!
gentlespirit 1 Posted January 5, 2006 That was really an interesting article. I'm printing off a copy for my NP and my sister's PCP, who was not at all familiar with the band when she asked for a letter of recommendation. Emily

schel 0 Posted January 6, 2006 Thanks for the article. I wish the media would talk about the lap band as much as the RNY. Seems like the band doesn't get enough recognition. My opinoin only though. Schel
ReneBean 3 Posted January 6, 2006 It looks like the band is finally getting some recognition from various sources. Yippee!! The more positive public press, the less insurance nightmare - I hope! Thanks for the Article. I love the way they put the mortality rate out there for the world to see. I wasn't overly enthused about the band when my doc mentioned it to me - because ALL she said was that it was slower than by-pass. She did NOT mention that the pay-off for the slower loss is the much lower complication & mortality rate. Uh - that's kind of important in MY consideration of which surgery to have! Oh well. If I ever get insurance approval, I will educate my PCP as I go. :]
