Guest MHRIVNAK Posted January 5, 2006 I have really tried hard to lose weight on my own and tried so many diets it's unreal. I've been going to the gym 3 to 4 days a week for some time now, changed my eating habits (eat a lot less) and healthier and still can't get the weight off. This was my last resort and I find out today that my Copany has 3 insurance coverages to chose from and all exclude WLS. In my immediate financial situation there is no way I can afford another pay out. I guess I will have to keep trying myself. This is so depressing.
Iluvharleys 15 Posted January 5, 2006 I'm sorry you don't have coverage. I didn't have any coverage either, but I did find a credit card that offered 0% interest for a year. I took that out and then when the year was up I found one that was 3% so I transferred it to that one. Hopefully you will find some way to come up with the money. Good Luck! snarlene0214 0 Posted January 7, 2006 I also found that my insurance had an exclusion. But as I always do in my life I have forged ahead and found a way. This is not always because I am motivated. Mostly it is because I am stubborn. Since self-pay is my only option, I have borrowed against the cash value in my life insurance and will have lap-band surgery on 2/10/06 in Mexico. Just making the decision to go ahead with the surgery is like lifting a huge weight off of my shoulders. (no pun intended)
Guest MHRIVNAK Posted January 9, 2006 Thank you both for input. It keeps me hopeful that my time will come. Snarlene, good luck on your surgery and keep us posted on how it goes.
ReneBean 3 Posted January 9, 2006 Do you have a 401k you can borrow against? A house? I know that increasing the debt-load is not a great idea for most people, but if the payments were low enough, some of it would be offset by your reduction in food budget. I know that for the last few years, I have budgeted $200/mo for lunch money. If I got a band, I could cut that in half easily - or even cut it out and bring lunches. In the end, that may be what I have to do. I am currently waiting for the State of CA to finish their independent medical review of my case, to see if the two denials from Blue Cross can be overturned... Good Luck!!!
