Does the chances of getting pregnant go up after a surgery?

Recommended Posts

I'm not really sure how to word this question. But... I'll try my best!

Is it possible for the chance of pregnancy to go up after surgery?

Like... due to your immune system or your body trying to heal... anything like that?

I don't know how to explain it.

Anyway, if anybody has any idea of what my question means(lol) or how to reply...please tell me!!!

I think, losing weight, may help a person who is trying to conceive. Fat cells mess up hormones. A more healthy weight will help I am sure.

That being said. my doc requires one year of stable weight before trying.

Something I was told... As we start to loose weight we start feeling frisky. We are staring to see our bodies as sexy again. Therefore, we have more sex because we realize it is more fun. Also, as we loose weight women for some reason another get pregnant easier. There is something called a lazy ovary and as weight disappears our ovaries get less "lazy"!

I think both of the previous posters had the right of it. :D

I do know that once I went above 260 pounds, my periods stopped completely and the doctor said it was due to my excess weight. Of course, they can't figure out why I didn't get them back even though I'm supposedly not menopausal.

In response to your thread title, "Oh God I hope not because I'm ready for grandchildren, not children!"

Yay!!!!

I didn't really want to get pregnant while I am overweight... however, at the same time I was worried because... I wasn't getting pregnant. My husband and I have not been 'trying' but we haven't been using anything for two years. But, I am hoping that it will be alot better with the weight gone.

Anyway, thanks so much!!!!

I was told by my dr that larger women have a tendency to get pregnant easier as they lose weight because fat absorbs a lot of our hormones, hence the sketchy periods. My surgeon wants me to wait at least 18 months before trying to get pregnant, but have told me a story of a client who got pregnant 2 months after surgery because it made her fertile again. Just err on the side of caution would be my suggestion...

OH, I am NOT ready to have a baby right now. Maybe in five years. It's just comforting to know that the reason I am not able to conceive is because of the weight. (which is going bye bye) lol biggrin.gif
