Metime 2 Posted February 7, 2011 Get a nice gentle stool softener. That is what I used. By the next day I was moving just fine. The brand I bought was Senna Plus. Good luck!

Kena 0 Posted February 7, 2011 I know we are not supposed to drink caffeine coffee, but I have found that a half cup of coffee makes me go every time.
CheckYes 46 Posted February 7, 2011 Im allowed caffeine and it does the trick. I also use Benefiber daily which helps a lot.
IreneV 0 Posted February 7, 2011 coffee or apple juice work for me and I know that backed up feeling well. Hope you get moving again soon!
Austindoll 0 Posted February 7, 2011 I have had the same problem. It was almost unbearable sometimes. I use Miralax mixed in with my beverages. Tasteless and odorless it just mixes right in. I have to do this on a weekly basis now. It may help.
TylerAshton567 0 Posted February 7, 2011 My surgery was wed and I've only been able to go twice. But both times I tried and tried and tried I was prolly in the bathroom for 30 mins forcing myself to go lol. Is this how its always gonna be now?????
JJLaw08 4 Posted February 7, 2011 I take Fiber gummies from VitaFusion to help with this, but if I really need to go, I take Milk of Magnesia. I only do this in rare cases.
Want To Be Thin 0 Posted February 7, 2011 Thank you all for the info. I think I will try the milk of magnesia first today. And that benefiber tasteless thing sounds good. I have to admint, I am a coffeeholic. I never gave up my coffee. I drink 4 or 5 cups in the morning. and 4-5 cups at night.

Walking stimulates peristalsis, so take a walk to get things moving. This is a great thing to do post-op anyway. If all else fails a gylcerin suppository is a safe and effective method to get rid of a blockage. MOM (Milk of Magnesium) is good but can cause cramping. Best bet is to avoid Constipation all together. I add Benefiber to everything I drink. The fiber gummies that someone else mentioned are also great. I use them before meals alot (they make me feel full faster). Drink plenty of fluids as well. Good luck, I had this happen at one point post-op and it was very unpleasant. Do not force yourself to go - you could get a fissure which is the worst pain I have ever experienced. You've probably not eaten anything since surgery so don't need to have a bowel movement. bandcamp1210 1 Posted February 9, 2011 Going to get a little TMI here, but if you haven't gone in a while the part closest to your exit spot may have dried up a little a isn't going anywhere till you use a suppository or fleet enema. I went almost a week without going, had to use the enema and then pooped for two days. I now use Miralax every few days.
