TanyaSari 1 Posted February 6, 2011 Everyone in my house got this horrible stomach bug including me. I can't keep any of the shakes down for my pre surgery diet. I had to eat chicken Soup and I had some gatorade since I needed electrolytes. I did get the low cal one. I cheated earlier in the week with chicken and mac and cheese.< /p> My question is, how bad off do you think I am for the diet? I've been really good about getting my Protein in and what not. Just today dairy is not staying in my stomach.
mattie7632 24 Posted February 6, 2011 I bet you're completely fine, but to be on the safe side you could always call the doctors office and make sure
honk 780 Posted February 6, 2011 I would try Protein Shots instead of whey isolate if dairy is'nt staying down. Protein shots are 3 oz of colored protein Water. You can buy them at Walmart and Target; they have 30 g protein.
TanyaSari 1 Posted February 6, 2011 Thanks for the input. Sadly the only thing staying down is chicken Soup with saltines. I have had lots fo 99% fat free swanson chicken broth and low salt saltines just to settle. I have the low cal gatorade and that's working so far. Just the sight of milk makes me sick. This is a bad stomach bug in our house. Everyone has upset stomach and diarrhea. Avoiding any dairy for 24 hours. If I promise to be good for the next week, do you guys think I will be ok? Should I call the doctor tomorrow? I'm so worried now I was doing so good until everyone in the house got sick and I had to give in and stop shakes for a day. Kalia Jade 0 Posted February 8, 2011 You should be fine, I would inform your doctor that you are ill but only so he knows prior to surgery that you had an infection. As far as the diet, don't try to force anything down. Your body is sick and if Gatorade, chicken noodle Soup and crackers is all that will stay down...eat them. The stomach bug should go away within a few days and you can return to the pre-op diet. Don't beat yourself up because you didn't stick to it...if we could stick to diets perfectly, then we wouldn't need to have a lap band!
