Ok so I have been on Clear liquids since 1/20. My surgery was on 1/27. Today the MD gave the go ahead to cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. & Protein Shakes. I feel fine but everything is running right through me. Is this normal? The hospital said to be ion the watch for C-dif but I don't have any symptoms. Does it just take some time for your digestive system to normalize?

Thanks in advance for any comments

Hi Debbie,

I'm no expert, but can talk about my own experience. I had one week pre and one week post op of Clear Liquids and those last few days resulted in very very loose stools. I think it's probably that liquid diet catching up with you. The more normal foods you add, it should improve.

Ya know, I don't know. I STILL have not had a BM and i'm 8 days out. I was told I couldn't take any kind of laxative, just benefiber with some Water to help things along. So it seems I'm having the opposite symptoms. If you have LOTS of diarrhea I would suggest calling your dr or surgeon.

I didnt pre-op diet but I have been on liquids since my surgery on the 29th and had my 1st stool today, it wasnt easy. I was told the pain killers can constipate ya and the liquids can cause diareha...so I think my body is havin hard time makin up its mind. Hope things get better for ya and everyone else have issues. And I hope mine gets normal soon haha

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
