My Name is Sassyann

I had my band surgery on December 24th, 2010. I started my process back in April of 2010 , and as of today I have lost 63lbs. I had my first fill on the 17th of Jan,2011 and will have my second one on the 14th of Feb 2011.

I went to my first PCP visit on the 31st of Jan and didn't have a good review. My A1C was 8.2 and I was told that my blood was to thick. Never had thick blood befor. I will go back on the 17th for more blood work and see if I need to have blood drown out of my system.

Not to happy at the present time, just a little nervish.

with surgery being so close into the mix....and what is your intake like? I would think your A1C would not go down until you have settled down into eating healthier and starting to exercise as well. As for your blood work, it sounds as if your Iron is high? Are you drinking enough fluids? Even though 64 ozs is the allotted amount, I find that I have to intake 80oz to maintain hydration status, though this would not necessarily cause "thick blood". Best wishes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
