I've seen a cookbook out there somewhere that was made just for banders. It has all lapband friendly meals in it and I'm trying to find it. Anyone know of one?

That is the one that my nutritionist recommended. Some really good recipes in that one. You can get it on Amazon. Also, I have found the Hungry Girl cookbooks just full of healthy ideas that are protein-rich, yummy and satisfying!!! I also have some great crockpot recipes I could send over to you. If you'd like to PM me with your email address, I can send you the file. Not sure how to post an attachment on here (can you tell I'm one of the old school members LOL)?

There is one in my doctors office called Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies Cookbook or something like that. It covers other surgeries as well, but is specific to the requirements of Lap Band vs Gastric Bypass. I'm going to go find that one myself.

I have the Eating Well cookbook and also Before and After by Susan Maria Leach. She also has most if her recipes (free) on her web site at www.bariatriceating.com. Everything I have made from her recipes are wonderful.

I have the Dummies book and the Eating Well After book and a couple of others. I'm disappointed in the fact that the recipes make way too much food. I'd like to see a cookbook with recipes for only 1 or 2 servings. I don't want to make 4-6 servings (some even make 8) because I'll be eating the same thing all week!

There is another forum for all WLS patients (not just bandits) that has a recipe thread. Many of the recipes were developed and posted by WLS patients so they make much less. I'd give you the name of the forum, but I don't know if that's good netiquette to suggest a forum on a post in a different forum. The other forum doesn't have as much traffic as this one, so many of the posts are old (as in years) but the recipe thread is excellent. If you can message me, I'll tell ya.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
