I had surgery 12/9, everything went fine, not much pain afterwards, back to work full time in less than two weeks. I was losing steadily after surgery, but then it stopped. I kept on watching what I ate and began exercisng. The scale started moving again, but now it's stopped again. Dont get me wrong, I'm happy about my losses thus far, but it's very frustrating when I'm making an effor to work out (4 days a week) watch what I eat and the scale NOT move! I have only had one fill (1.5cc) so I know by reading everyone elses experiences that it will get better once I get more fills. Also, I have started doing body pump (weights) one day a week so that could be a contributing factor. I know that I have made some changes in my life by just having a different outlook. I don't eat nearly as much as I used to and I now look at exercise as a part of my life instead of something to do for a few months. I still plan to keep exercising and watch what I eat but I just wanted to say it out loud...I'M FRUSTRATED!!! Thanks for listening!!

It is frustrating, but I just ignore it. I eat about 1200 calories a day, I exercise 1 hr and 15 minutes 7 days a week which burns around 500 calories. My "estimated" calories burned a day is 3400. This means I have a deficit of 2200 calories a day. 3200 calorie deficit is one pound lost. I do this daily and have not lost an ounce in more than a week. One day I will step on the scale and 3 pounds will be gone overnight. I have learned to just keep doing what I'm doing. It eventually comes off. Best of luck to you!

Keep at it, it will happen for you. I quit weighing myself daily, that just grew to frustration. If you are new to exercising and working out, you will gain quite a bit of muscle in the beginning as well. This will lead to not losing a bunch of weight, but it will be transforming your body into a fat burning machine :). When you do start to shred the lb's off, it will happen a lot quicker with more muscle mass on your bones. You're doing it right, just be patient and keep up the good work!!!!

This is my first post here........My name is Brian, I am a nutritionist that works with my local hospitals bariatric programs. I have worked with hundreds of patients over the last few years so I would say I have a pretty good amount of experience.. I am also a personal trainer and supplement specialist and have been helping to change peoples lives for the last decade, so questions are welcome. I have not had the band surgery myself but I do have an extreme dedication to helping others. Devin, is my other half that will also be on here and she is a weight loss success herself with all the same credentials as mine. I'm sure we will run into some locals on here that crossed are path, they can tell you more about us. Anyway, anyone who does see us will tell you our first question to patients when they say that the weight has stopped coming off is.....................Are You Still Drinking Your whey isolate shakes? In 2 years working with so many amazing people I would have to say that stopping the shakes is the number #1 cause of "Weight Loss Pause" as I like to call it. This is not the only reason that could be causing the pause but like a doctor, I always check the most common cause first. We love what I do so don't be afraid to ask me questions. We are on here to learn as well. The more knowledge we have the better we can help our own patients.

Brian - It is great to have you and your expertise! Can you explain why it is so important to have the Protein Shakes? I actually do enjoy them so it doesn't bother me but I'm just curious. I have lost 80+ pounds in the past without ever consumming a Protein Shake. Why would this stall the scale? I am also on the verge of insanity. I have not lost a single pound since a few weeks after surgery (when I started mushies to be exact). I work out 4-5 days a week with 30 minutes of elliptical training. I consume around 1200 calories a day and log what I eat. I drink at least 8 ounces of water/SF Fluid a day....and nothing. It is really really hard not to be disappointed and frustrated. I have my first fill on Tuesday. I'm really hoping this will help.

Thanks

Michelle

I agree with this. My weight loss is slow (I feel for what I have been doing and compared to others), but I've already started fitting in to pants that used to be to small and a few of them, now those are to big. I'm down to 2 pairs of jeans that fit me (a little snugly), but the other ones just feel to big. (Will have to get new ones soon :) ). But I feel like the scale isn't moving as much as it should. But I am also going to the gym and doing the weights 4 times per week, so I am probably building some muscle. I have a scale obsession and I weigh myself everyday usually multiple times, which I know I shouldn't because my weight fluctuates a lot during the week and it frusterates me.

So just keep doing what you're doing and it will come off. I'm sure eventually we will see a big jump in the scale and it will make us happy.

@ BrianDevin - I was told, not to have liquid calories. I should and am getting enough Protein from food, so I do not see reason to continue Protein shakes.

I think the key reason to keep up on Protein Shakes is because protien takes hunger away and keeps the body going longer than other foods. If you do not like Protein shakes you can drink the fruit juice mixes or Soups. I know that I would lose more weight if I upped my protien. I need to focus this week and see how it works for me. I need the extra discipline sometimes!

I am so glad I'm not the only one that's frustrated. I was near tears at my year mark visit and I told my doctor that I feel like I'm eating so little and still not getting any AWESOME results from it. I had my surgery 12 months ago and I've lost about 40lbs and it seems so small compared to others on here that have lost over 100lbs in their first year. My husband tells me that I have lost alot of inches but even the inches stopped.

I might just start doing the shakes in the morning and at night. I usually pack a lunch for work so I don't overeat but it's getting aggravating.

Thanks for all the posts on here. You all are great!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
