amberakamom 13 Posted February 2, 2011 I've had diarhea every day since surgery, which was a week ago. Today is especially bad! I don't expect to have normal poo's at this point, but I'm kinda scared to leave the house! Help!?
happygirl65 5 Posted February 2, 2011 You can take something with lots of Fiber to bulk it up...like metamucil or something like that but you may want to call the doctors office and see what they recommend. I have heard and read that it is pretty common while you are on a liquid diet. I am a week out and while it's not constant it has been watery and is getting better the more Soups and things that I eat.
Melissannde 41 Posted February 2, 2011 Call your surgeon in the AM and ask if you can have immodium. Yes, diarrhea or very loose stools are not uncommon while on liquids. Please consult your doc before taking any medication or changing your diet

vickyd 24 Posted February 2, 2011 I had severe diarreha after surgery and after talking to the NUT I ended up trying a lactose free Protein powder with soy milk and that did the trick. I was slightly lactose intolerant before the surgery (but not so much that I couldn't drink the normal whey Protein shakes) but after surgery I have become much more lactose intolerant. I have heard that it isn't uncommon for people to become lactose intolerant after surgery so you might want to try that... Good luck!
thsisme 14 Posted February 2, 2011 Give you physician's office a call. It sounds like you may be needing some additional fiber.
honk 780 Posted February 2, 2011 I use flavorless Benefiber. I buy a large bottle at costco and add it to my Breakfast yoghurt and to Soups on the post fill days.
~*~Rachel~*~ 2 Posted February 2, 2011 Its the Protein Powder for me... I have tried whey and soy have never been Lactose intolerant so i did some research. Found out that it can be common to have a allergic reaction to the Protein powder.< /p>
